This year at ServiceMaster® Brands, our Transformation Team has added several interns who are vital in producing innovative tools and resources to help our franchisees grow their businesses.

One of those interns is Seka Dembure – read below to learn more about Seka as she shares her experience with ServiceMaster® Brands!

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am a second-year master’s student in the Human Computer Interaction (MS-HCI) program at Georgia Tech.  With a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Emory University, I have been on a journey to expand my knowledge and skillsets on ways to best design interfaces centered on the users’ experience. In my free time, you can find me jamming to a multitude of music genres on Spotify. One of my favorite past times is discovering new artists to listen to and expanding my ever-evolving playlists (with one being over 22 hours long). When not listening to music, you can find me enjoying time with friends in the city.

What is it about ServiceMaster® Brands that made you want to work here?

The wonderful opportunity to be able to work on a supportive team that would facilitate the grow of both my UX design and research skills. I have enjoyed being able to be able to work through the full UX process from research to design and iteration. Since joining the Transformation team here at ServiceMaster® Brands in February 2023, I have been able to learn a wealth of information of what it is like to work on a UX team in a corporate sphere. I have also been able to build upon the skills taught in classes in a more firsthand approach where my creative ideas were considered and appreciated.

Where do you see your career in five years?

In five years, I plan to be a senior user experience designer who can make influential decisions and lead a team to deliver design solutions that are based on rich user research. I hope to be in a role that will have a high impact on the state of user experience design.

What’s a project you’re working on that you’re excited about?

I am currently building the new ecommerce site for Merry Maids®. This project has been remarkably interesting to work on due to its ability to expose me to what it is like to work cross-departmentally on a design. I have enjoyed being able to conduct hours of interviews with franchisees and implement their feedback into the designs that I have created. I am looking forward to how this project develops and grows throughout this summer term.

Who’s your everyday hero?

My parents are my everyday heroes. Their ability to achieve greatness in the face of adversity and continuing to be there to provide for me has been something I have always admired and aspire to emulate in the future.

What’s your favorite ServiceMaster® Brands value and why?

My favorite ServiceMaster® Brands value is “We Serve” because there is value in serving others to help them accomplish their goals/needs. I believe that a lot goes to show about a company/person that can serve without the need to be recognized for every action that they have done. Being there for someone else during times of need, whether it is a franchisee or a neighbor, is important because it highlights one’s ability to serve unprovoked.

How would you describe the ServiceMaster® Brands atmosphere to someone interested in working here?

As part of the Transformation team, I would have to say that the atmosphere is incredibly supportive and welcoming to new and unconventional ideas. I feel like my team is willing and eager to answer any question I have. The atmosphere at ServiceMaster® Brands has been very gratifying to work in and I am excited to see where this summer takes me.
