This year at ServiceMaster® Brands, our Transformation Team has added several interns! These interns are vital in producing innovative tools and resources to help our franchisees grow their businesses.

One of those interns is Jonathan Satterfield – read below to learn more about Jonathan as he shares his experience with ServiceMaster® Brands!

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am a master’s student studying Human-Computer Interaction at Georgia Tech. I come from a philosophy and computer science background, and I am interested in how designs of digital tools and platforms can affect people’s behavior, especially toward one another. Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, playing the cello, and tabletop games.

What is it about ServiceMaster® Brands that made you want to work here?

I think what was most appealing for me about ServiceMaster® Brands was the company’s attentiveness to technology and change in the industries it comprises. The people at ServiceMaster® Brands really understand the necessity of staying ahead of the curve and being as accessible as possible.

Where do you see your career in five years?

My goal would be to do design research for a social media company, somewhere where the product is entirely contingent on the design and the social interactions. I came into UX research because I want to make those kinds of online spaces more positive.

What’s a project you’re working on that you’re excited about?

Right now, I am developing strategies for integrating some of the recent advancements in AI into the analytics and administration of ServiceMaster® Brands. I am excited because there is such a wide range of possibilities that open up with AI, but it also requires a bit of a light touch because we still need to keep the focus on human insights and find ways to augment that.

Who’s your everyday hero?

I am self-motivated, so sometimes if I am looking for inspiration, I like to imagine the best version of myself and think what that guy would do.

What’s your favorite ServiceMaster® Brands value and why?

“We Care.” All of ServiceMaster is based on serving people, and for that it’s so important that anyone working with ServiceMaster® Brands can rely on us to care about what they need, and it is obvious to me that everyone I’ve met here really does.

How would you describe the ServiceMaster® Brands atmosphere to someone interested in working here?

The first thing that comes to mind is friendliness: everyone I’ve spoken to seems like they take the time to get to know one another, and then that translates into a really interconnected research and design group.
