In a powerful show of purpose-driven business, our ServiceMaster Restore® and ServiceMaster Clean® brands have turned their commitment to veterans into a nationwide movement. Through the “We Serve: Veterans” initiative, the brands have united franchisees, vendors, and corporate teams around a shared mission: supporting veterans as they transition into civilian careers.

At the heart of this effort is a thriving partnership with Hire Heroes USA, a nonprofit dedicated to helping veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment. Since teaming up in 2023, more than $500,000 has been raised for the organization—an achievement that recently earned ServiceMaster Restore and ServiceMaster Clean the title of Hire Heroes USA’s 2025 Partner of the Year. The award was presented to ServiceMaster Brands General Counsel & CHRO Joshua Burnette at the Hire Heroes USA Empowerment Gala.

The partnership began shortly after ServiceMaster Brands relocated its headquarters to Atlanta. Looking for a cause that could bring its network together, the company found a natural fit in Hire Heroes USA, which is also based in Atlanta.

“We needed a cause that could bring the entire franchise network together,” said John Tovar, Group President at ServiceMaster Restore & Clean. “Hire Heroes’ mission strongly aligns with ServiceMaster’s values of serving those who serve our country.”

The initiative kicked off with golf tournaments on both coasts, drawing enthusiastic participation from across the ServiceMaster network. The events were more than just a good time—they raised serious funds and awareness. In 2024, ServiceMaster Clean joined the cause, followed by ServiceMaster BioClean™ in 2025, expanding the campaign’s reach even further.

To keep the momentum going, the company launched a local activation program, equipping franchisees with toolkits, marketing materials, and PR support to host their own fundraising events. Sixteen local events in 2024 alone brought in an additional $104,000.

The highlight of this year’s efforts? A national golf tournament at TPC San Antonio, where players got a taste of PGA-level play while raising over $180,000 through sponsorships and donations.

The numbers are impressive—over half a million dollars raised, translating to an estimated $34.6 million in economic impact through veteran job placements. But the real story is in the lives changed.

“Our company is made up of a lot of hardworking, blue-collar Americans, many of whom are veterans themselves or actively hire veterans,” said Claire Skinner, Local Marketing Support Manager. “Helping veterans find valued careers beyond their service is one of the most meaningful things we can do.”

ServiceMaster Restore has also connected its franchisees to Hire Heroes USA’s job board, helping match veterans with open roles across the network.

The company isn’t slowing down. With plans to increase local events to 20–25 this year and continue growing its fundraising efforts, ServiceMaster Restore is doubling down on its commitment.

“This partnership is still growing, and there are a lot more veterans that we intend to make an impact on,” Skinner said. “It is so important to our entire system on both the corporate and franchisee level.”

For franchisees like Alyson Horton in Seattle, the cause is personal. “My husband is a veteran, so Hire Heroes has a special place in our hearts,” she said. “We loved the idea of fundraising, and last year, we raised around $50,000. ServiceMaster Restore is all about serving people, so these types of community campaigns serve back to that core principle.”

With a clear mission, a united network, and a growing impact, ServiceMaster Restore and ServiceMaster Clean’s “We Serve: Veterans” initiative is proving that our brands will always Be There When You Need Us™.
