Southwest Summer |
Summer is often the peak of insect activity. Brown recluse and black widow spiders may move out of crawl spaces and other areas in search of food. Crazy ants and fire ants continue to expand their colonies and often enter into homes. During the summer, lights attract crickets by the dozens, or even hundreds, and these insects may enter the home through cracks and holes. Silverfish are common in the region, and will often enter homes in search of food as their population peaks. Warm weather and outdoor activities with pets mean more fleas in your living areas, while scorpions may enter your home in search of prey. Smoky brown cockroaches are also active.
