California Winter |
During winter months, subterranean termites may begin their swarming season as colonies begin producing winged reproductives that emerge to found new colonies. Swarming usually occurs on warm days following a heavy rain, and if a colony is established nearby it is just a matter of time before the termites attack the home.
Shortages of food continue to drive rats and mice to see new sources of nourishment, and they frequently invade homes during these months. Argentine ants are also active.
