Oriental Cockroach
Appearance
About one inch long. Females are black, with an oval shape and no wings. Males are thinner and have wings.

Behavior
Common everywhere but the Southeast, these pests invade homes during colder months.

Habitat
This roach lives in sewers and storm culverts. They often enter through floor drains and live in basements and crawl spaces.

Treatment
These pests can be controlled with granular baits. Risk of infestation can be reduced by: keeping firewood, stacks of bricks, etc. away from the home; repairing plumbing leaks to eliminate water sources; not allowing dirt and leaves to accumulate around your home's foundation; and sealing exterior cracks.
