Appearance
About one inch long. Females are black, with an oval shape and no
wings. Males are thinner and have wings.

Behavior
Common everywhere but the Southeast, these pests invade homes during
colder months.

Habitat
This roach lives in sewers and storm culverts. They often enter through
floor drains and live in basements and crawl spaces.

Treatment
These pests can be controlled with granular baits. Risk of infestation
can be reduced by: keeping firewood, stacks of bricks, etc. away from
the home; repairing plumbing leaks to eliminate water sources; not
allowing dirt and leaves to accumulate around your home's foundation;
and sealing exterior cracks. |
