"Without question, the best part of my internship was realizing that I was actually doing real work. There was no envelope stuffing or days consumed by making copies for every person in the building. I had people, to my surprise, actually asking for my input on ways to approach problems. I even had the opportunity to take the lead role in presenting data and analysis from the underwriting department to contractor relations. Everyone, from the analyst level all the way to the president, made it clear that this internship was about getting real work experience and learning the tools I will need to be successful in the workplace.
My time at American Home Shield (AHS) served as a perfect supplement to both my school and work life. I had the opportunity to directly apply what I learned in class while also working on problems that could never be simulated in a classroom. In addition to the work experience, I had a chance to spend time with some great people, attend some great events, and sit in on some great “lunch and learns”. The internship as a whole was an invaluable experience and I am sure it will serve as the cornerstone of any conversation I have with future employers."
